People: Danielle Joy McKinney

 

The story of New Jersey native, Danielle McKinney connects with me as she illustrates her raw and natural energy from photography to acrylic painting. During the pandemic Danielle  found herself confined in her home (some can still relate in 2022) as she quietly paints self-portraits. As we all know restriction and limits can unleash our god-given ability to express ourselves; through art, music or literature. 

 

Mckinney’s reclusive moments of nudity, solidarity and deep self-reflection of emotional and mental state, come alive in her work.
